Where We Work

About Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Addis Ababa is the capital city of Ethiopia with a population of nearly 4 million people. The primary language spoken in Addis Ababa is Amharic.

It is a bustling city that is home to the African Union & United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, which has lead it to often being referred to as the political capital of Africa.

About Our Facility

One of the most basic services that we provide our beneficiaries is shelter from the streets where they find a safe, secure, and nurturing environment to spend their time away from home. Located in the heart of Addis Ababa, our center is the “base” that allows us to deliver many of our programs including serving nutritious meals, providing tutoring services, and offering medical check-ups. The gated compound includes an outdoor recreational area, dining hall, tutoring rooms, a library, staff offices, washrooms and a kitchen for food preparation.

By spending a large portion of their time at our center, the children avoid the risks of street life, begging and crime. We believe that consistency and routine in the children’s daily lives is critical in establishing higher well-being, self-confidence, and a sense of pride.

Safe Haven for Youth Ethiopia is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible where permitted by law.
